These images are of restored ancient Hawaiian fishponds on the island of Molokai. Most are thought to date to the 13th century and some are still in use today. There are as many as 60 of these on the island, some very well restored.
One thing I've discovered in posting these images is the importance of scale. They have much more impact when viewed as small as they appear on the phone it's self. They break up emotionally and visually when displayed at their full resolution. They are just more satisfying as thumbnails...
