Policy statement for the election

I've slowly been coming to believe that this election has been brought to the lowest common denominator, Not by any "liberal elitist media" but by the republican nominee himself. Or by his handlers as the case may be. Also my entries into the fray have been an unwitting and unhelpful strike at the plump, juicy bait.

It's my own view that this is an extremely important election and that my ravings have been simply preaching to the converted or the uninterested or worse to the contrarily convinced who would not be budged from their convictions in any case by my lunatic ravings. All this has left me not at all consoled or encouraged. This then is my last political email of the season.

I think this much is true, extremest philosophy in politics or religious is dangerous, right or left, fascist or anarchist. So here's what I plan to do, get independent and balanced information from a variety of sources, not just Huffington Post or Bill O'Reilly.

In as much as the new increased role of the internet has broadened the political debate with out elevating it in the aggregate, I will opt out from the email rants.

I will vote on November 4th for the candidate whose policies I think will be best for this country. realizing that there is no perfect candidate and that although, in the words of Bryan Burris "Anyone who wants to be president is crazy and I don't want a crazy president" the job must be filled and I'm on the hiring committee.

I will try to remember that this is not a soap opera or "Northern Exposure" but rather a sacred duty to rescue this country from 8 years of disastrous policy and behave accordingly.

I will vote with out leaving the comfort of my own home. It's easy to do.

I will vote my conscience as though the electoral college did not exist and as if this was a direct democracy, not a republic, and that my individual vote REALLY made a difference.

That's the only way I'll be able to sleep at night.

Thanks for your time.
