Dog School
The last picture of Larry reminded me of a series I shot when he was going to dog school. It was such an inspiring site to see the dogs trying to learn and concentrating like there was no tomorrow. Larry would come home and sleep the rest of the day! He was so exhausted from thinking so hard! I'll post the series here over the next week or so.

Old Ohia
...Just a few more "Old" images. I spent the last few days trying to breath some more life into my elderly desktop machine. Installed Ubuntu as the O.S. It's really elegant and graceful, installs like a charm and all the drivers worked, the printer was supported (which I didn't think would happen based on what I read on line) and it ran like a dream until the hard drive went bad this morning. Oh well. I will be coming back to Linux and Ubuntu on my next machine..so just a couple of soothing images for my frazzled brain and to keep the creativity flowing and alive

Old
CW wrote:"I also like the idea of working with old familiar equipment, playing off its quirks and imperfections. Sometimes the well worn tool in the hands of a master can create a unique kind of beauty that would be impossible through other means."
This image is definitely a blend of old and new technologies. Look for spirit in the imperfection?

Book Of Oceans 3
Michele from San Francisco wrote:"Rain coming in over the ocean... Of all the mental images I have of Hawaii, that's the one that means the most to me. Don't know why, but it does. I guess it dates back to our first summer in Hana and to visits to the Hamakua coast where you are so high and can see so far out to sea."

Pu'uhonua o Honaunau
"City Of Refuge" Kona Hawai'iFrom the official website: "Pu`uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park preserves the site where, up until the early 19th century, Hawaiians who broke a kapu or one of the ancient laws against the gods could avoid certain death by fleeing to this place of refuge or "pu`uhonua". The offender would absolved by a priest and freed to leave."

Minimal Landscape
I've been playing with the concept of minimal landscape for a while now and will post some of these images in the coming days. This is an abandoned eucalyptus grove, originally to be used for paper pulp production, there are acres and acres planted on old sugar land up and down the windward coast of the island of Hawaii. This was shot with an old tamron zoom that has taken some serious of hard knocks through the years and has some weird focus issues. Large areas of the image have serious ghosting and blur, kind of like a Holga lens. Click on the image to see a larger version. The whole right side of the picture breaks up in an agreeable sort of way.

Halemaumau
We had a nice cumulus clouds over the Halemaumau Crater at Volcanoes National Park this last weekend. The yellow streaks on the crater walls are sulphur banks and the fumes are quite strong. Lava enters the ocen about 45 minutes from here from a diffrent vent site at Puu O'o
India Silver Shoot

This image is from a redesign shoot for indiasilver.com. They have a total "redo" in the works and we were lucky to have Lindy available at the last minute, she's a real pro and a joy to work with. I'll post images here form time to time with no rhyme or reason. Some commercial stuff and some personal stuff.
